Currently a family caregiver?
Apply your lived experience to your work life. We work with you to translate your real-world situations into training and certification for new employment opportunities as a professional home care specialist. The real-world skills you have developed as an unpaid family caregiver are valuable to care recipients, their families, and to Soaring Independent Cooperative. Formalize your skill set with us and get paid for the work you know. You may even be able to get paid for your work caring for your loved one.

Build your skill set with our extensive training and certification programs. We know that investing in your professional development and continuing education makes you a confident, committed, competent, and compassionate care specialist - and that’s the kind of care we want for our clients. Join a supportive community of fellow caregivers.
As a group of women from the same community, the founders of Soaring Independent supported each other in multiple ways, including assisting with family caregiver tasks for children, aging relatives, and individuals with physical and/or mental health disabilities. We intentionally built a culturally competent network of support, empowering both skilled professionals and family caregivers who understood the need and value of our work. We saw an opportunity to build a worker-owned cooperative that represents the voices of caregivers from all backgrounds. Professional caregivers often go home to more caregiving. Help us grow this community and support work that is as rewarding as it is challenging.

If you’re interested in becoming a caregiver on the Soaring Independent Cooperative team, you must:
Complete an application
Pass a drug screening test
Complete a Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse History Clearance
Be willing to provide care for people from various backgrounds without regard to race, religion, gender identity, age, culture, sexual orientation, or disability
Be able to fulfill the physical requirements of the job
Complete a physical examination with 2-step Tuberculosis test
Be able to work independently and adapt through innovative responses to difficult situations at work and at home
